BIO
I am a composer, pianist and teacher working and living in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast.
Piano has been his main love throughout my life and I enjoy composing for advanced as well as student pianists.
Recently my collection, Constellations, was chosen as part of the Composing the Future initiative for the Sydney International Piano Competition. In July 2023 two international pianists will be performing the work as part of their competition repertoire.
In 2024 twelve leading pianists from around Australia will be performing my new two piano work Long Term in six major capital cities.
In my first life I worked as a pianist after studying at the NSW Conservatorium of Music. In 2016, I went back to study and completed my Bachelor of Music, at the University of New England. While studying I took an elective in composition with Paul Smith and from then on I decided to change focus towards composition.
Since 2017, I have studied composition with Paul Smith, Ofer Ben-Amots, Jan Jirasec and Marti Epstein. At Berklee College of Music, in Boston, I majored in orchestration and contemporary composition techniques and won the Michel Camelo based on my piano concerto “Rhapsody on a Theme by Gershwin”.
In 2018 I won first prize in the Joseph Dorfman International Composition Competition.
In 2023 I completed in Graduate Certificate in Music at the University of Queensland.
I have had residencies at STEIM in Amsterdam, ZKM in Karlsruhe and attended composition workshops in Valencia and Ochsenhausen. In 2018 I won first prize in the Joseph Dorfman International Composition Competition for my quartet “Beyond the Gate.”
